At Hurst Chapel A.M.E. Church of Riviera Beach, Florida we work to spread the understanding of teaching a ministry vision that integrates discipleship, evangelism, and social action that works toward both spiritual and social transformation. All ages, backgrounds, and levels of leadership are able to partake and engage in the helping of the community.

The residents of Riviera Beach and the surrounding cities experience high volumes of poverty and subsequent high crime areas. Broken homes, homelessness, low literacy rates, and rapid drug use make up a substantial amount of the population and is the grim reality that is faced daily by those in need of resources in addition to salvation. Hurst Chapel seeks to be a home and a place of reference for those struggling with all types of ailments and facing disadvantages in which we will utilize the wisdom, connections, and experience of our senior membership and neighbors to facilitate solutions and channels of support.

This Blog is about Hurst Chapel’s Compassion for Riviera Beach; A New Home for Holistic Ministry and how through the leadership of Pastor Sharon D. Hobbs, assistance will be administered to support a wide spectrum of social action that includes charity, compassion, community development, public policy, and justice advocacy while addressing both individual and systemic sources of human problems.

Reverend Sharon D. Hobbs is the Senior Pastor for Hurst Chapel (AMEC) in Riviera Beach, FL. She leads the congregation in sharing God’s Love and teaching the Good News of Christ’s Kingdom.
